Re meme use, what is your recommendation for navigating which are available for public use and which should be credited to the creator or need permission to use?

To be fully transparent - the honest answer is that it can be a bit of a risk if you don't know explicitly if the meme is free for sharing, or you don't know who to credit. The safe bet would be to create your own. You can always take an idea that you've seen and create your own representation. Think about adding your own social handle on the image as a watermark and if it gains traction - you may gain some follower as well. 😉
